So, I promised I would share with you about what I thought of the products in my ipsy bag, once I had the chance to use them. If you didn’t see the post with my video reveal of the products, you can check it out here. The theme for May was “Jetsetter”, so here ya go…
Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Thickening & Strengthening Mousse (FULL SIZE) – $23.00 at Ulta and Beauty.com
I like the smell of this product and the fact that a little goes a loooong way. The smell is just light and clean. If you don’t like strong scents from your hair products, you would probably like this, because I really couldn’t smell it at all after I dried my hair. I seemed to have forgotten for a minute that I didn’t have long hair the first time I tried this and I used WAY TOO MUCH. It made my hair feel all gummy and horrible. The next time I used it though, I used a much smaller amount and that was a lot better. Now, as far as feeling like my hair had more volume or anything like that, I wouldn’t really say I noticed that. I will use the product, since I have it, but I honestly don’t see myself buying any once this is gone.
Klorane Eye Patches – $21.00 for a box of 7 pairs (I got 2 pairs in my bag, so worth about $6.00)
As I mentioned in the video, I really don’t have a lot of issues with puffiness under my eyes or anything like that, so even though I tried these out to see what they were like, I didn’t really see any difference in the appearance under my eyes. I will save the other set though and if I do have a puffy eye day, I will try them again. I definitely think they are on the pricey side and without having the issues that they are intended for, I don’t see myself purchasing these.
The Balm Nude Dude Eyeshadow Single in Fit – Not for sale in this size. Full pallet of 12 small colors is $36.00
I have to say that I really like this eyeshadow! It is very nicely pigmented and stays looking great all day, with no creasing at all. I have worn it 3 times now and have been very happy with the results. Eyeshadow is typically something I don’t spend much money on, but then I do have issues with creasing, which drives me crazy. This product may just inspire me to go for a nicer quality shadow to eliminate the creasing and keep my eyes looking freshly made up all day! I’m really happy with this product!
GlamGlow ThirstyCleanse Daily Hydrating Cleanser – $39.00 for full size 5oz. (My sample was 1oz. so roughly worth $7.80)
This cleanser smells sooooo good! It has almost a coconut scent that is amazing. I like the texture and the way you use it and my skin felt nice and clean afterward, but I have to be honest…it’s cleanser. I don’t get real excited about facial cleanser. My face honestly feels pretty much the same when I just use a washcloth and warm water to wash it, so I would NEVER pay $39.00 for 5oz. of cleanser. So, while I think the product is fine, it’s not worth that kind of money to me.
it Cosmetics CC+ Color Correcting Full Coverage Cream in Medium – $38.00 for 1.08oz. (My sample was .135oz. so roughly worth $4.88)
I’m overall pretty happy with this product. I feel like it does a nice job of being a full coverage cream, without feeling heavy. I don’t love the scent (kind of medicine-like, reminds me of putting Bengay on my face). It’s not horrible though and I don’t smell it once I get it all applied. My oily skin still makes my face look like an oil-slick when I wear it, but it’s not like it promised to take that problem away or anything, so I can’t really fault it for that. Again, I think it’s pretty pricey for the amount you get and even though a little goes a long way, I just don’t see myself paying that for it. It does cover nicely without feeling greasy or heavy on my face though, so I am really happy with that.
I think the little cosmetic bag is adorable and I will definitely get a lot of use out of it, so I’m super happy about that!
So, in conclusion, it was fun to try these different products that I have never tried before, but I pretty much am only thrilled about the bag and the eyeshadow sample (which I actually think will last me a good while, since it’s pigmented so well). I did go in and take my beauty quiz again and took off a couple of things, in hopes of getting more actual makeup in my next bag, because that’s what I’m really interested in. So, I really hope to see some more eye makeup (shadow, liner or mascara) and/or some lip color in my next bag. I’m happy with this first experience and getting to try out some new things. For $10.00, I think it was beyond worth it. ALL of the products I received will definitely get used, so it was totally worth it to me.
