First Victory Over Clutter

Following yesterday’s downer of a post, I’m happy to report that some motivation has been found and I rocked it out in the kitchen this week, when it came to de-cluttering my cupboards. I even ended up doing drawers too. Oh yeah, I’m that good. Now, I can’t lie, my husband did help with a few of them, so here’s a little shout out to him for that! Thanks, Brian!!!

You know, once I got started it was actually kind of invigorating and exciting. Pulling out a bunch of stuff that I didn’t even know we had, going through and deciding what to keep, ending up with a whole set of utensils and dishes for our camper and just straight up pitching some stuff. I can’t believe all of the stuff we had! Does anyone really need like 6 spatulas? I think not. Why in the world have I been struggling with trying to stuff things into my cupboards when all I needed to do was take a few minutes and go through what was in there? Heck, why do I do half the stuff I do?  All I know is, it feels really dang good to have this stuff done.

So, here we go. The super duper amazing results!

Side note on the cupboard above: There was a sticky, brown mystery substance that is now GONE! I have scrubbed it, my mother-in-law has scrubbed it and I could not get rid of it. Today I found a weird plasticy scrubby from the dollar store and I added a drop of dishsoap and I had to do some scrubbing, but it all came off!!!! Seriously, it’s like a brand new cupboard! Check this out!!!

Pretty good, right?! I mean, I’m feeling amazing! Now I want to do a thorough scrub down of the outsides of the cupboards and my floor could use a good hand-mopping instead of with the mop. I even did some serious scrubbing down of the sinks today. Looks amazing! My kitchen will be sparkling and organized in no time. Heck, my fridge could probably stand to be cleaned too. Now that I’ve started and finished the cupboards, I am feeling extra motivated to completely clean my kitchen and do some of the things I’ve been neglecting, like wiping down the baseboards in there too.

So, did anyone play along this week? Even if you didn’t do all of your kitchen cupboards, did you at least do one or a couple? I’d love to hear if anyone felt motivated to do some de-cluttering of their own!

  1. Nice Work!! I did clean out Landon’s closet. It was a disaster- he had stuff that was too small, plus stuff that was too big passed down from Nathan that was never gonna fit his skinny minny self. Cleaned out 2 full garbage bags of clothes to donate! Kept only what fits him now! Feels good 🙂
